Teams who have enabled AI features in zeroheight can use the AI powered Design System assistant — a chatbot that's available from within the styleguide editor in zeroheight.
When you use the Design System assistant, data from your design system will be sent to OpenAI to improve the quality of the response. Neither zeroheight nor OpenAI will use your data for model training purposes.
Information the assistant has access to
The assistant uses information already in your styleguide to answer questions and surface insights.
- Analytics: page views, ratings, and engagement trends
- Release data: which pages are included in each release
- Page content: guidelines, documentation
- Structure: navigation hierarchy and page relationships
- Settings: styleguide security, page ratings, npm dependencies
- zeroheight Help Center articles: to answer support-related queries
What can the assistant do?
The Design System assistant helps you understand and maintain your design system by answering questions about your content, structure, and engagement data — directly within the editor.
You can use it to:
Ask questions and get insights to improve your design system
- Ask about engagement trends (e.g. “Which pages get the fewest views?”)
- Find outdated or neglected content (e.g. “Which guidelines haven’t been updated recently?”)
- Explore release activity (e.g. “What changed in our last release?”)
- Get quick summaries of sections or pages (e.g. “Summarise the accessibility guidelines”)
- Retrieve information from settings (e.g. “Is this styleguide public?”)
- Get help with common zeroheight features (e.g. “How do I add a Storybook embed?”)
Edit your structure
The assistant can make structural edits for you, such as:
- Adding or renaming categories and subcategories
- Re-ordering navigation items
Chat naturally
You can ask follow-up questions to refine or dig deeper — the assistant keeps track of the context of your conversation until you clear it or refresh the page.
How to use the assistant
- Open a styleguide
- Find the AI assistant in the bottom right corner
- Type a question in natural language (e.g. “Which pages haven’t been updated recently?”, or select a suggested prompt)
- Review the response. You can ask follow-up questions for clarification.
You can close the assistant and then resume your conversation via the AI Assistant button but if you refresh page, your conversation will be permanently lost
Follow-up questions retain the context of the conversation if you want to start a new topic click the Clear chat button

Can I opt out?
Yes! If you no longer want to use AI features in zeroheight, you can disable the features from your team settings. Deactivating the AI features will remove all AI-powered zeroheight features from your team
Will you use our data for training purposes?
Neither zeroheight nor OpenAI will use customer data for model training purposes.
What data is shared with OpenAI?
The prompt/question and any relevant data in/related to your styleguide is shared with the AI assistant.
Does the AI assistant remember my previous prompts/question?
Within a conversation "thread" previous questions and replies are used to inform the next response. But new conversation threads can be started by clicking Clear chat.
What kind of response will I get from the AI assistant?
A text-based response to the prompt will be streamed into the chat.
What usage limits are there on the use of AI?
Each message to the assistant consumes 1 "prompt" from your team's monthly AI usage limit. Limits vary by plan for more information see plan limits.
Is OpenAI a subprocessor of my data?
We have added OpenAI to our list of sub-processors. AI features will not process personal information unless you input personal details into the prompt. As a reminder, customers are not supposed to input personal information into AI features or the content they upload to the platform more generally (see terms and conditions).
