Accessing zeroheight Analytics

You can access vie the sidebar on the left, there are three separate areas: Styleguide insights, Page insights and Search feedback.

Each view shows data for a specific styleguide, you can change the styleguide via the drop down on the top right. You can only see analytics for the styleguide(s) you have editor access to.

👉 Note: If you currently don't have a name for your styleguide, we recommend naming your styleguide and turning off Display text in the Cover style menu so that a name appears on the Analytics page.

Styleguide insights

This view shows:

• Total views, Website views, AI queries, and average helpfulness rating — each shown with an indication of how it's trending compared to the previous period
  • Total views is Website views and AI queries combined. AI queries counts every time your documentation is accessed by an AI tool or assistant rather than viewed directly in a browser.
• a views over time chart, broken down by channel: Website, Markdown, MCP, and AI assistants (including the zeroheight Assistant for viewers, Slack, Microsoft Teams and Figma).
  • Use the Group AI queries toggle to combine all AI channels into a single line if you just want to see AI vs. website traffic.
• number of pages by status tag
• the 6 most recently pages that have been last edited with information about when they were edited and who by

You can filter views and ratings data for either last 7 days, last 30 days, last year, all time or a custom date range.

Page insights

The second view, Page insights, includes a table that shows a row per page in the selected styleguide along with the following columns:

• Page name
  • You can configure whether you want to display the breadcrumb for each page as well as indicator of whether or not each page is visible

• Tags
  • The page status tag assigned to the page
• Views
  • The number of views recorded during the configured date range. By default this shows Total views (website views and AI queries combined) — open the column's menu (the ⋮ next to the column header) to switch it to show just Website views or just AI queries instead. The column header updates to match whichever you pick.
• Rating (%)
  • The number of positive (👍) votes divided by the total number of votes. Learn more
• Vote count
  • The total number of votes
• Last edited by
  • The editor who made the most recent changes to the page
• Last edited
  • The last time the page was edited

Filtering

You can filter the views and ratings data for either last 7 days, last 30 days, last year, all time or a custom date range.

You can also filter to only show specific rows in the table according to:

• Whether or not pages are visible
• The page statuses
• Last edited by
• Last edited
  • You can choose to only show pages edited in the last 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days or 60 days

You can also search the table to only display pages matching your search term.

Showing/hiding columns, sorting and downloading to CSV

All columns (except Page) can be hidden. This setting can be found via the kebab menu for a the column you want to hide.

In addition, you can sort the table by any column,

To unhide a column or export the data to CSV , open the main kebab menu next to the date filter.

Individual page insights

By clicking on a specific page in a table, you will find a more detailed information about that page including:

• Total views, Page views, AI queries, and helpfulness rating for the page, each with a trend indicator
• a views over time chart for the page, broken down the same way as the styleguide-level chart, with release markers
• a table with latest feedback for the page

You can filter views and ratings data for either last 7 days, last 30 days, last year, all time or a custom date range.

Search feedback

This view shows a table with 4 columns summarising results from this feature

• Missing search term
  • The term the user searched for but didn't match a result
• Note
  • The note the user added to explain what they were looking for
• Date submitted
• Resolve
  • Once you've addressed the search feedback you can remove from the default view of the table by removing it

You can filter search feedback for either last 7 days, last 30 days, last year, all time or a custom date range.

You can also filter search feedback according to whether or not the feedback has been resolved (i.e. is closed).

FAQs

What counts as a website view?

A website view is counted each time someone loads a page of your published styleguide in their browser, the normal way anyone reads documentation on the web. Views from your own editors and admins are excluded.

What counts as a Markdown view?

A Markdown view is counted when someone (or an agent) requests the Markdown version of a page instead of the normal web page — whether they open the .md version directly or use a "copy as Markdown" action. Both are combined into the single "Markdown" figure shown on the dashboard. Like website views, views from your own editors and admins are excluded.

What counts as an AI query?

An AI query is counted whenever someone asks a question through an AI assistant and gets an answer sourced from your documentation. This covers four channels, shown separately in the chart:

• zeroheight assistant — the "ask AI" widget shown to visitors on your published site
• Slack assistant — asked via a Slack conversation
• Teams assistant — asked via Microsoft Teams
• Figma assistant — asked via the Figma-based assistant

What counts as an MCP query?

An MCP query is counted each time an external AI tool (such as Claude or Cursor) connects to your styleguide via MCP and either fetches a specific page or runs a search across your pages.

Do my own team's AI queries and MCP activity count towards the numbers?

Yes — and this is different from website and Markdown views. Website and Markdown views exclude your own editors and admins, but AI queries and MCP queries don't.

How does the MCP search tool impact MCP usage on Analytics?

When an agent uses the MCP search tool rather than requesting a specific page, every page the search returns counts as a separate view for that page. So a single question that surfaces five relevant pages will add one query to each of those five pages' totals.

Why don't I see the data further back in time?

We started tracking website views on 10 February 2021, any views before this date will not display in analytics.

We started tracking queries via MCP on 18 February 2026, Markdown 27 April 2026, AI Assistant for viewers/Slack/Teams/Figma on 7th July 2026 — any queries before these dates will not display in analytics.

Who can access Analytics?

Users with either the Organization Admin or Editor role can access the Analytics page but Editors will only be able to view the analytics for styleguides that they have edit access to.
